Champions Caps are presented at conclusion of the events to the

Welsh 50 Mile Champion and Ladies Champion.

 

We appreciate that you may want to leave quickly, but please stay to applaud the Champions.

Course Description for R50/3C

START at mark on the western edge of the most western drain cover on first lay-by west bound from Blaengwrach roundabout on the A.465. Proceed westwards to Resolven Roundabout (2.649 miles). Circle roundabout and retrace along A.465 dual carriageway to pass first lay-by on left to start of circuit (4.042 miles). Continue eastwards on A.465 dual carriageway to Blaengwrach Roundabout. Bear left along cross valley link road to junction with old vale of Neath road, B4242. Bear left along B4242 going westwards via Pentreclwdda to "30" sign at Resolven. Continue on B4242 via Abergarwed, Ynysarwed, to climb to top of Rock and Fountain. Continue westwards on B4242 to Aberdulais village sign to junction with A4109 (Give Way). Bear left down A4109 through village to Aberdulais Interchange (13.644 miles) where take 1st.left down slip road to join A.465 dual carriageway eastbound. Proceed eastwards on A465 to Resolven roundabout. Take second exit continuing on A.465 to pass FINISH point at the start of the second circuit(19.427 miles) Continue eastwards on A.465 dual carriageway via Blaengwrach Roundabout, Pentreclwdda, Abergarwed, Ynysarwed, Aberdulais and Resolven roundabout to take second exit on A465 to pass FINISH point at the start of third circuit (34.813 miles). Continue as before on third circuit to FINISH at west end of the first lay-by on the left, at the east edge of the most western drain cover. (50.198 miles)

Welsh Points Competition

Points are awarded in all the Welsh Championships (25, 50, 100 miles, 12 Hour and Hill Climb) to riders from clubs affiliated to the Welsh Cycling Association. Rides in all five events count to the final total and awards are made to the six riders with the highest score

For the Ladies, rides in all six Ladies Championships count, (Including the 10) as with the men, it’s only open to riders from clubs affiliated to the Welsh Cycling Association and it’s the highest score wins

 

 

 

All riders are asked to comply with the following requests


 

DO NOT park or stop your car so as it may obstruct the starting or finishing timekeeper.

DO NOT make any noise near the start.

DO NOT leave your number flapping - four pins are supplied for each - PLEASE USE THEM

DO NOT allow your friends and relations to follow you around the course - it's not allowed

                Resolven has parking and allows access and visibility to riders every 7.5 miles and is close       to the HQ.

DO call your number to the finishing timekeeper or your time may not be recorded.

DO keep your head up, be aware of your surroundings and HAVE A SAFE RIDE

DO take care at the junctions around the course, particularly around Monmouth the turns can be quite sharp and there is a petrol station very close by, please be aware of other road users and possible slippery road conditions.

 

 

Important Notice to all Riders

The WCA, CTT and South Wales Police all recommend the use of a good hard shell helmet manufactured to internationally recognised standards.

For ALL Riders under the age of 18 these helmets are COMPULSORY.

Marshall's will be positioned around the course they are there to show you the way, they have no authority over the traffic. 

Please be familiar with the course, so there are no surprises.

It is the Riders responsibility to ride within the laws of the road and with consideration to other road users, please do so.

 

 

Please park considerately

PLEASE BE AS QUITE AS POSSIBLE, Particularly first thing.

 

Our ability to race on the roads in this area rely on our being considerate to the people who live in and use this beautiful part of Wales. Please think of others and your environment when enjoying this event.
